Project Selection - Film

The film project would be a good project for me to do because I already like film and I think it'll be fun to do. Throughout the year we've watched many things that can help me in making my film. The behind the scenes videos for Newsroom tells me what goes through the heads of the people making the episodes and why they made the decisions that they did for certain characters on the show. The Ferris Bueller documentary tells us what the writers, director, and cast directors went through to get their characters right and make the movie is good as possible. I think I would enjoy the the film project because I already have an interest in film and I think it could be a fun project to do. I think the biggest challenge would be coming up with a story that could fit the two minute time limit. Another minor challenge would be choosing what type of film I could make and how I would execute that idea. Overall I think the film project would be a fun yet challenging project to do because of my prior interest in film and how films are made.

Project Selection - Magazine

The magazine project seems like a good project to do because of all the journalism related stuff we've watched in class. I feel like the magazine project is more related to the movies we've watched like Newsroom, All the President's Men, and the magazine analysis. The magazine project could help me understand some more aspects of journalism and what its journalism is like. With everything we've watched related to journalism I think it could be a nice and easy project to do compared to the film project which I think i'll need a bit more experience in if. Although I like film I think the magazine project would be a better choice for me since a lot of our work this year is writing big essays and that has gotten me more used to writing larger essays and i'll need to write a lot for the magazine project. The magazine analysis we did in class would make the magazine project easier because now I know how the companies make their magazines with a lot of ads and how the cover looks and what type of content to put into the magazine as well as how to make it visually appealing to readers. The Newsroom would also help me understand how journalist think and what stories are the most important and what to put first and just overall give me a good behind the scenes look at what its like to be a journalist. Overall I think the magazine project would be a good choice for me because of everything I've done during the year has prepared me for a project like this.
